Stuff the haters, I like it!
I have a similar cover for my D750 - I got it for shooting in a cave where bouncing a hard plastic corner against a hard cave wall could prove ... bad. It's not going to do a lot to protect from major impact, nor is it -- as some non-camera people occasionally ask -- for underwater. But it serves it's purpose and is reasonable well fitting. And not very expensive so if I need to take the X-Acto to it ( e.g. it slightly covers the battery chamber and if I get tired of pulling it back to remove the battery I'll trim it up ) I won't be risking a big investment.
